DIY Pins

An old tradition of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program is the exchange of pins to put on your Rotary blazer.

Make pins that represent your country or you as a person.

Several districts give their Rotary exchange students pins.

How many pins should I bring?
I made 250 pins myself and was given 60 pins by my home Rotary district before I went abroad, so in total I brought 310 pins. I returned with just around 150 pins.

Based on this I would suggest that you bring around 150 pins. That should be sufficient.

Example of pins

I am from Denmark so therefore I made pins out of LEGO bricks, Carlsberg beer caps and the Danish krone, which represent my country:

Order the pin clips from the pictures from www.aliexpress.com:
50 butterfly pin clasps (around $8.50)
- 200 back bar pins (around$ 7.00)

- LEGO bricks with my name/initials + back bar pin:

- Carlsberg beer cap + back bar pin:

- Danish coins with Danish coloured ribbon + butterfly pin clasp

Save lots of money on souvenir pins for your blazer
Instead of buying overpriced $4.99 souvenir pins, you can buy $1.00 tokens and make them into a pin. Simply glue a pin clip to the back of the token and attach it to your Rotary blazer

As I have already mentioned, I bought 2 different inexpensive kinds of pin clasps from AliExpress.com:

50 butterfly pin clasps (around $7.50)

- 200 back bar pins (around$ 6.50)
